AVICI notes

TWISTABLE'S GUIDE TO NARAKA

Naraka is the realm of hell in Indian religions. According to some schools of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, Naraka is a place of torment. The word Neraka in Indonesian and Malaysian has also been used to describe the Islamic concept of Hell.

All following information was discovered by fans in the official Discord. As more content is discovered by fans, this page will be updated.

If you haven't read AVICI, or don't know/remember how to access the comic, you're in the right place. AVICI is a secret comic about Twistable, an immortal from Earth. The comic is here. Otherwise, you can only find it by adding "AVICI" to the end of the website url.

A screenshot of the website URL, but with "/ Avici" added to the end.

The page is password protected.

The Lunar Energy section of the bestiary contains information on the effects of the full moons on residents of Salus. The fifth level does not include a moon, as there are only four moons orbiting Salus. But it contains one simple word: Apotheosis.

Apotheosis, also called divinization or deification, is the glorification of a subject to divine levels and, commonly, the treatment of a human being, any other living thing, or an abstract idea in the likeness of a deity.

Avīci or Avici is one of the hells in Buddhism and later Hinduism. The term In Buddhism, is in reference to what is perceived as the lowest level of the Naraka or "hell" realm, with the most suffering, into which the dead who have committed grave misdeeds may be reborn.

But that doesn't work as a code word.

This takes us back to the Bestiary.

Each bestiary page has a page number in the url. If you look closely, however...

A screenshot of the website URL, specifically the bestiary page for the celestials. It is read as page 16.
Screenshot of the website URL, specifically of page 18 of the bestiary.

...page 17 is skipped.

This isn't an error or mistake. Long time viewers of CiderAmese animation memes know the number 17 has some significance. Mousetrap was subject 17, with a number plate screwed to her head.

Screenshot from the "Why Love Me" animation meme, showing Mousetrap crying while a red 17 is painted on her head, and lines to mark where future scars will be.
A screenshot of the "Ghosts" animation meme, where Mousetrap has a metal plate of the number seventeen on her head. She clutches her bleeding left eye and cries.
A screenshot of the "Ticking" animation meme, where Mouestrap has the seventeen plate on her head. Her left eye is scarred, she is missing a chunk from her left side, and her left leg has been severed at the knee.

But why Mousetrap?

Well... we'll get to know eventually. More about her backstory will be revealed in future chapters of Fire and Ice.

Page 17 of the Bestiary does in fact exist. You can access it by once again, typing it into the URL.

A screenshot of the website URL, but opened to the hidden seventeenth page of the bestiary. It's page title reads "placeholder".

Here, we see a dark, empty bestiary page. At first glance, it really does look like just a placeholder.

An empty bestiary page, which can be found on page 17 of the bestiary.

CLUE 1

Hidden black text appears in the middle of the empty bestiary page, reading "can you hear me"

In the gaps between the boxes, there is hidden text. It reads "can you hear me".

On mobile, it is between the first and second box.

What does it mean?

CLUE 2

A screenshot of the social share image for the website, that appears when a link to the site is posted on social media.

If you post a link of any other page of the website, the general social image that pops up looks like this. But if you post a link of page 17:

A screenshot of the social share image of page 17 of the Bestiary, specifically. It's just an empty black space.

The general social looks like this.

This is weird.

So, let's take the image and brighten it.

The social share image from page 17, but brightened. It is colourful static, with warped text in the corner.

We get a lot of static, and a warped message.

"BETWEEN EVERY INSTANT

BETWEEN EVERY THREAD OF SPACETIME

BETWEEN REALITY AND UNREALITY

WOVEN INTO THE FABRIC OF EXISTENCE

BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSION THERE ARE GAPS

GAPS THAT SCREAM"

Well, that explains the "can you hear me" in the gaps between the boxes.

What else is hiding in the gaps?

Fans have discovered the text here is similar to text found in articles regarding Pattern Screamers. The bestiary seems to be full of them, and fans perceiving them is only making them stronger.

CLUE 3

Screenshot of the top of the page of Bestiary page 17. There is a tiny line that can be copied and pasted.

Weird small line at the top of the page. Turns out it's really tiny text.

It reads "01011001 01101111 00110010 01000011 00110010 01010110 01001000"

This is binary code, which translates to "Yo2C2VH", which at first looks like an imgur link, but doesn't take you anywhere. Nothing happens when you put it in the comic website's URL.

Or maybe we need to translate it further.

Long-time CiderAmese fans know that Twistable, the protagonist of AVICI, is French. A French cipher, one that requires a codeword to work with, is the Vigenère cipher. While fans in the Discord were working together to try and find which cipher to use, this one seemed the most promising.

We need a code word, though.

CLUE 4

The empty bestiary page again. Our focus is the ball in the square that reads "common limb examples".

Back to the Bestiary.

Our item of interest here is the ball that is used to represent limb examples for monster objects. The image file is titled "Fear of Infinity."

The fear of infinity is called "apeirophobia." Using that as a code for the Vigenère cipher and our mystery word "Yo2C2VH", you get another bunch of nonsense, which is "Yz2Y2NQ" It still doesn't work as an imgur link, but...

Our Vigenère code DOES work as a passcode for the cover of AVICI.

I REPEAT: the code word for the cover of AVICI is "aperiophobia"!!

...but the first chapter still needs a code word.

We can try putting our mystery letter cluster into the website url, though.

"Yz2Y2NQ" doesn't work on it's own, it seems it needs to be all lowercase to work.

A screenshot of another hidden page on the site, which includes the URL, containing a string of letters and numbers.. The name of the page is "athazagoraphobia".

Seems empty.

But if you scroll to the bottom of the page...

There's a secret ref image of a strange character we haven't seen before.

Hovering the cursor above it gives the tooltip "i don't remember my name". So far, there doesn't seem to be anything else here.

Let's go back to our mystery letter cluster.

CLUE 5

"Yo2C2VH"

Nowadays, websites that can decrypt the Vigenère don't even need a code word to figure it out. But that really takes the fun out of the treasure hunt.

With these strange letter clusters, however, you need a codeword. AI won't help you. So let's try a different word: "apotheosis".

We get a new cluster, "Yz2O2CA".

And this time, it works as an imgur link!

A screenshot of an image from imgur, called "constellations". Shows a black screen with blue and white stars scattered across it.

Note how after the main imgur url, you don't put "/" and then our letter cluster. Instead, we need to put "/a/" and THEN our mystery letter cluster for it to work.

We're given an odd image of what seems to be a starry sky.

However, brightening the image gives us this.

The same imgur image, but brightened. Coded text is shown at the top.

"STJXUXSWV UHXZWYIB JWTBTR HM XVWQJ LXJXZ, XVWQJ HDAXZ, XVWQJ HPDIPRSKA, LHTWK MEAATAEH, PNA XVWG VIS BHA WHGX LHTFX, ALSQ BGOZ CNY IMWA, GUG HHUKIWA, GUG BHZIG, GCJ FXBZLVG, SVV WWSG DI HZWMGWH PL LOV VGTWWGN QCJM LO ACLL, XVWG JOQPXK YG GN GUG ABUHG. LPWRT WL USHZQFG UCK BW PMB WTTFGHP GMNXEGWGN MB LPW HTZE ALSQ USDT THY YG. OM KET SOLVMLPANV, KX HPKSGK KCCP DLSJM QOJ OKL. AS SZW TWS VOMZVZWN DT MOI BAOZT"

Put it through the Vigenère cipher with the code "apotheosis" to get:

"SEVENTEEN CHILDREN ROBBED OF THEIR LIVES, THEIR HOMES, THEIR HAPPINESS, THEIR FAMILIES, BUT THEY DID NOT STOP THERE, THEY TOOK OUR EYES, OUR TONGUES, OUR NOSES, OUR FINGERS, AND WHEN WE THOUGHT WE HAD NOTHING MORE TO LOSE, THEY ROBBED US OF OUR MINDS. THERE IS NOTHING FOR US BUT ETERNAL SUFFERING IN THE HELL THEY MADE FOR US. WE SEE EVERYTHING, WE ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU ARE. WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT"

So far, that seems to be all the secret stuff on the website.

But what about AVICI chapter 1? What's the password?

No puzzles or treasure hunts are needed for this one. Just search up "Avici" to find that it is the deepest hot hell in Naraka. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the highest cold hell, is "Arbuda".

That's the password for AVICI chapter 1. It's "arbuda".

There's still so much more to be discovered, so get digging and have fun! The history of this world runs far deeper than meets the eye. Join the official Discord to take part in this treasure hunt!
